QuiltPittsburgh quilt

QuiltPittsburgh is a network of quilters in southwestern Pennsylvania dedicated to promoting the art and craft of quiltmaking.

Our goal is to provide information to the community about the quiltmakers in the Greater Pittsburgh area and about the events and activities taking place here.

Pittsburgh 250 quilt
The Pittsburgh 250 quilt at the Heinz History Center.

In June 2008, Mildred Bosilevac presented the Heinz History Center with a special quilt to commemorate significant moments in Pittsburgh's storied 250-year history. The five-foot commemorative quilt, entitled "250th Anniversary of Pittsburgh and the Southwestern Region of Pennsylvania 1758 - 2008," was created by 23 women representing the many quilters from the Western Region and produced as part of the 2008 Quilter's Weekend at the History Center. It features 25 squares, each honoring landmark organizations, events, and Pittsburgh firsts. Karen Montgomery, of the Quilt Company, contributed much of the material used, and Barbara Thompson completed the quilting, using a long-arm quilting machine.
